Supporting the Community – Weedon Food Bank

During Lock down we’ve kept ourselves busy with creating a new website, developing new cleaning packages, online courses plus cleaning and servicing our equipment. However, as our vehicles were not being used I thought this was the ideal opportunity to volunteer our services to support the Weedon Food Bank. The Weedon Food Bank like many others has been set up to support those in Isolation or vulnerable in the local community during the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Initially the Food Bank operated from Weeedon Bec Primary School but since the schools have opened, it’s now based at the church. It’s staffed by local volunteers and relies on donations from from the local community and businesses. SleepHaven have two vehicles, therefore it was an ideal opportunity for us to give a little something back and volunteer our services to run a collection and delivery service.

I’ve personally enjoyed the experience, meeting and chatting to new people plus getting some valuable fishing tips from one of my regular drop off points. People have been so kind and generous, not only with their time but with donations to support others, which I know is truly appreciated by the recipients.

Donations can still be made in the Blue Boxes outside Weedon Bec School or direct to the Food Bank at Weedon Church. Alternatively call us and we would be happy to collect on your behalf and deliver to the volunteers at the church for distribution.

I would like to thank my customers who have not only donated to the food bank but those who also donated “Walkie Talkies” to the NHS. These were used by NHS staff so they could communicate with each other whilst looking after people in isolation. Also a BIG thank you to Selina at Weston Favell Food Bank, she contacted me as they had a surplus of certain items. We were able to collect and distribute the food to both Nether Heyford & Weedon Food Banks.

Call us on 01327 342594 if you have a donation you would like us to collect, if you need advice, or a quote on any deep cleaning or sanitising requirements you may have. Take Care and Stay Safe.
